Engineering is simply the application of math sans science to solve real life world problems. Engineers are involved in creating and building stuff and they are not limited in their tasks. The journey to become an engineer begins in high school where you have to score good grades especially in math and science that will enable you to get placement in a university. Taking some advances classes in these two subjects will help you to decide which kind of engineering university to go e.g. civil engineering universities. If you find that you are having a hard time in these advanced classes, then it means that things will even be harder at the university.
The next stage after completion and passing high school would be to choose a university or college that has a good engineering program. There are very many of these that have engineering departments while some are exclusively for engineering. The one that you choose will depend on your preference and financial capability. Always ensure that you get into one that has a good reputation because this will later help you when you are looking for a job. To get to that institution of your choice, you will need to properly fill the application and write an impressive essay because competition is usually very stiff.
After getting into that university of your choice, you will need to work very hard for the next four years. You will take a thorough math and science classes and some specific engineering classes. In your third year of studies, you will need to decide and chose the specific type of engineering to study. Consider what you love and what you are good at and then talk to people from the engineering profession that will help you decide.
For a person to become a professional engineer, they are required to take an FE exam. This will help them go to a status of engineer in training and it’s the first step towards becoming a professional engineer. The exam is taken shortly before someone graduates, and it is usually very essential in most engineering fields.
